Rules for Participants

Students may start collecting pledges as soon as they receive the pledge sheets. April 14th is the deadline to turn in your pledges.

Each sponsor making a pledge should write their own name, pledge per lap, and maximum pledge. Students may collect the pledge in advance but must turn them into their teacher on Monday, April 14th, in their Walkathon Envelopes during home room.

On Walkathon day, each class will start walking  at 8:30 a.m. on our parking lot. Each lap is approximately 1/4 mile. (Preschool Students will participate in a tricycle ride which will begin at 9:00 am and last for about 30 minutes.)

Upon the student’s completion of the Walkathon, each student’s lap total will be recorded on their pledge sheet. Students may then collect outstanding pledges. Please return pledge sheets with the collected pledge money for Standard Sponsorships to FRCS by Friday, April 18th. (Corporate Sponsorship pledges can be received as late as May 19, 2014.)

No running or jogging will be allowed. Participants are encouraged to wear hats and sunscreen if it’s sunny or bring rain gear if it’s rainy. To avoid injury, please dress appropriately for walking.

Dress Code: PE shorts that are to the knee, good tennis shoes, and an FRCS T-shirt may be worn for this activity.  Please bring school clothes to change into after you have walked.

Students who do not participate will remain in class. Students who are planning to walk must raise a minimum of $25 to walk.

The kitchen will not be serving lunch. You can bring your own lunch or lunch may be purchased for $5.00 in advance. Lunch includes a Chick-fil-a sandwich, chips, a drink, and dessert. Your student will receive an order form at a later date to purchase this meal.

Adults are encouraged to participate. However, there will be a fee of $25 for all those who want to participate without obtaining sponsors. We ask that you dress according to the school standards outlined in our handbook.

  • Only Walkathon participants are eligible for prizes.
  • All students who raise $50 or more will not be required to attend school on Wednesday, April 30th. For those students who choose to attend school this day, games and activities will be planned for them.
  • All students who do not reach their $25 goal will be required to be in school on April 30th as a regular school day.
